I was offered $200 per share by one private investments firm recently with a forward contract as a mechanism to pay me the cash now in exchange for the promise to transfer shares post IPO and post lockout - have U got such an offer ? For how much ? Would taking money under such a contract be legal ?
How did you get in touch with such investment firm? And why not just sell it on equity zen?
EquityZen has express deal on DataBricks from an investor fund at $498.75 implied price. Min investment:$314K. Cap table is provided.
Eli5 plz. I can purchase BRIX at 498.75 but I need to pay a min of 314k?
Yes, you are buying on equity zen platform from an existing investor who is selling some or all of his investment in the fund. This is a single equity fund at equity zen that holds only BRIX but the price you are paying to get in is 498.75. You will have to invest min $314k at this price which I think is hefty premium. There are restrictions around holding and sale in addition to stock market risks that one should read carefully before diving in.
Why are you looking to sell databricks stonks ? Aren't they doing really well and hoping to have a blockbuster ipo ? I think, you guys already had $177 in last funding round ? So won't it easily 1.5x post ipo ?
Because we probably won’t IPO until 2029.
I actually heard that you are IPO'ing by end of this year, unless you badly miss internal revenue estimates.
Where did you hear that?
No replies to my orig post ! Have any DB employees done this n actually got cash ? Checked for legality or Later complications ?
200 is still 32-35B valuation. Should be looking for 300+
How? With current revenue and yoy growth, 300+ means 100+ multiple. That’s bubble
What is the current revenue and yoy growth
People crack me up. Why would you sell at 200? If you need money that bad go get a personal loan. The interest on that will still be lower than the upside on your equity
500 on the other hand... Yeah, that would make sense
Bird in hand is worth two in a bush and trading a small portion of equity which you wouldn’t regret is a good idea especially at a healthy price like $200
Bruh SELL 25% at least. Look at snowflake
Did you finally end up selling ?

Make sure you have a lawyer review any contract. They will be aggressive getting you to transfer shares post ipo if price is up, but if price is below $200 they may have some loopholes built in to get out...could be a lose lose for you if you aren’t careful.
Like somehow try to claw back the money ? Whoa that should be some Pretty clear clauses - good caution though thanks - u got expce with fwd contracts ?
