Deciding between Datadog and Databricks for new grad. Databricks TC is around 220k recurring, and Datadog is around 170k recurring. They both have the same base so I get less stock from Datadog, but it is public. I'd ideally want to be able to work on systems/distributed systems. Main things I'm considering: 1. Comp 2. Work (ideally systems related) 3. Career growth #databricks #datadog #swe #newgrad
Datadog is a front end platform that just queries AWS and azure metrics lmao. Nothing they do is advanced
Microsoft is just a spreadsheet and word processor app, nothing they do is advanced
The person said they want distributed systems work. Creating a real time data ingestion system at their scale that works across all cloud providers isn’t trivial. I’m not saying it’s more complex than Databricks, I’m just giving credit where credit is due
Databricks has the guys who created Spark
is databricks valuation still 38B?
No, but we will continue to say that since we are private. :)
Our estimate is $29.6B based on analysis I posted below
Everyone has a hard on for databricks here so that’s going to be the out come. Having just interviewed with Datadog though, I know their distributed systems work is top notch and they’re working and really interesting problems. Though Databricks will likely IPO in the next couple years and their upside is probably much bigger. Also, data is the future and I can see Databricks getting even bigger in the future
