I have been reading about multiple trading strategies and the yields associated with them. Wanted to get a poll of people out here who are actively or passively investing in the stock market. Please note that I am talking about non-401k investment. What trading strategy do you follow and what are the returns on it? Single named or mutual funds trading strategies - both are up for grabs
Day trading only if you know what you are doing, or else you will burn it all
Don't day trade
It’s like telling don’t swim because you will drown. Day trading is a skill that takes time.
There is no empirical evidence of skill in day trading sans institutional advantage
Day trading is reckless gambling, on a long enough timeline you will lose. Whatever strategy or secret you think you discovered have already been executed by countless others before you.
Good luck. I would stick to index fund instead. Not as fun but hey
From someone in finance actually advising REAL investment managers - please do not day trade. Even if you did make money in the short term this is a bias and you are not actually equipped Many people are equipped and still lose money. I'm not trying to prevent you from making millions, just prevent you from being an idiot
lmao Bloomberg is not finance
You and I don't do the same job at Bloomberg though buddy
The HFTs will rape you if you day trade. Just buy QQQ or SPY. Unless you have some inside info on HFTs....
I used to day trade and short position. Knowing the industry and company was key as well as the market. I can’t really do it now as I have to clear trades with compliance so I am not timely enough to really hit my benchmarks so I don’t bother, plus I can’t touch certain sectors period due to my job so it was a fun hobby if anything earlier in life.
Yep. I trade on 1 to 4 week timeframes and only 5 stocks. I know those stocks like the back of my hand.
You don't have to pick one or the other, just make sure you are careful if you get into day trading and expect to pay thousands for every mistake you make.
not reducing consumer debt

This for 90% of investment funds. Although it’s yet to pay off, I use the last 10% for individual stocks just for fun knowing full well it’s likely to be a mistake
