So guys, I am about to be pipped (not at Upstart). Going through a range of emotions but this is the first time for me. It feels like the outcome has been decided but should I still put up a fight? Being on a work visa adds to the misery. Should I accept the pip so that I can stay for a month longer on payroll? Would that time be super stressful though? Should I start slacking off at work and focus only on finding a job. Any tips for staying motivated and interviewing for other jobs? Sorry for the brain dump but looking for help to navigate this situation š #mentalhealth #pip #motivation
If itās Amazon and you know you have been piped wrongly , chances are itās just formality and you will be out of it if you deliver the pip tasks.
If you've been pipped wrongly at Amazon it could be unachievable if your leadership really just wants you out to meet URA
Many managers just put their good resources into pip to secure them from not moving teams. Lol. Happens only at amazon. If this is the case then he has a good chance to come out. I would say check out the tasks and see if you can deliver.
There's nothing to fight about. Bargain a fat serverance package and move on.
If you manager if a piece of shit, then there is no need to fight it. Just prepare a beautiful message to say f*ck you gracefully. If your manager is really trying to help you, you can definitely work through it.
Record controversial conversations secretly and put them out in public to screw over your manager
Please do not do this. It is illegal in several states.
Take up medical leave if there is one. But fighting it up doesnāt seem to be worthy option
In a year to 6 months, you will realize it was a blessing. Hard to see it right now. Give yourself some space, sone kindness. Just start prepping for interviews. Yes, stay on pip and act all friendly and nice to management. So you can keep visa status till you get another job.
This is what I need. We forget to show kindness to ourselves. Thanks for the reminder!
Shit yourself during the meeting as a sign of dominance

Why did you get pipped? Maybe you can work on those issues first
No, don't do PIP goals, no matter you achieve them you are still fired
I wasnāt necessarily talking about for OPās current job. But steely itll help to know why so he can perform better on his next job and do better. What do you think?
Is it at Amazon? If yes, then fight for it and work with a principal engineer on your team or request someone in your org to guide you. Get engineers engaged by requesting them to give you honest feedback and help you to discover more about your skills/work. Then see how the PIP stuff goes with management. Keep interviewing in parallel as visa issues could complicate things. Find PEs on the mentorship portal.
