Fellow managers, Stop looking for your “plug & play”! Just because a candidate went to a top school or appears to have held a role at a “prestigious” company does NOT mean they are the BEST candidate. I urge you to widen your applicant pool and consider someone who brings passion and deep desire to learn rather than an “exact” skillset. A candiate who is driven and eager to lean will run rings around the candiate who is complacent and has “done the job” you are hring for.
Who are you again ? Do you know how much it costs to hire and fire the ' driven' candidate who is 'eager to learn" but couldn't perform the job duties ? Also, the mess made by this 'eager to learn' candidate also costs a lot. That's why internships exist.
OP: Read this comment aloud.
I have fired “qualified candidates” because of their lack of motivation. the only thing it costs is my time to develop him/her. But I can understand why many lazy managers don’t spend a lot of time on training talent and would rather go with the “plug & play”
Dear applicant Will put this into consideration. Better luck next time. Jk Anyways, move to a step company where you get closer to what you want .
What’s the point in whining? Get your credentials together
State school kids are the hungriest
Keep applying, you will get a call
