My cousin (new grad) is evaluating a few offers: Goog - 110K base, 150 GSU Airbnb - 125K base, ~170K worth RSUs, 10K signon Dropbox - 110K base, ~200K worth RSUs There are a couple of series A startups too, but not putting them here for anonymity. They're all pretty much 100K base and options. I recommended Airbnb for career growth and learning. Not sure about technical challenge though. Thoughts?
Money is irrelevant, pick the best team and focus on learning.
Google or Dropbox for learning. Airbnb for growth.
Google- deeper engineering.
Google is my first employer and I was very satisfied to learn a lot from great peers.
Offers can be negotiated since you have competitive offers. You might be able to get over 250k for the first year.
Airbnb is the only company I am willing to go after FB. Google is a big company with a lot of politics now and Dropbox future is not clear. They lost their golden times and currently have a lot of competition from big names.
Dropbox these days don't pay much in equity. It sounds like an outstanding offer for them. I think Goog is the right choice for him. Airbnb won't make him a better engineer. Dropbox's future is not promising. Assuming he gets a decent team at google, it will teach real hardcore engineering.
Google would the best choice to get started for new grads
No sign on for google?
Goog
