Debt ceiling bond investment question

I have a lot of money in VTI and VXUS at Vanguard. With the potential of recession and the debt ceiling stand off I read an article that talked about bonds in jeopardy. Can anyone shed any insight as to whether they think these two bond funds will be safe.
