I've recently quit my L4 SWE position at Google Zurich (TC: $250k according to go/prosper) and moved back to my home country in Eastern Europe. This was partly due to personal reasons and partly because I got fed up with corporate politics and bureaucracy. After moving I got a job at Toptal Core Team. The work is super chill, like 5-6 hours a day. On the flip side, TC is only $90k and inflation here is raging. Was this a low-ball offer? Can I do better compensation-wise? Most well paying remote jobs I've seen are only for US based people.
>quits google >moves to less competitive region >gets offer from comfy normal job >”can I do better?” It sounds like your priorities and actions aren’t in alignment.
This^ and done so during recession
I knoooowwww. I am also from eastern europe and currently in US. I wonder the same as you. All the companies are no name, low impact, low TC options😭😭😭.
But 90k for eastern europe is pretty good though... assuming 90k dollars or euros..
Yes, I’m currently living in EU along the Mediterranean with $160k base + options. TC is a range; ~$250-400k depending on a probable EV multiple when we sell or go public. Message me for more details, we’re hiring and have offices in Croatia and many devs across Eastern Europe - though most are contracted.
What company in Croatia? Aren't taxes eating a lot there?
The company is Neogov. It's based in Los Angeles, but we have offices in a few cities. I'm not sure about the taxes in Croatia though; I'm currently living in Spain.
