Who are these retards asking for dictatorship in India?
I heard from some friends that there were pretty significant layoffs over there. NJ office? Chicago? And across all lines of service. New associate here a bit concerned since I always that Big 4 was a rock solid career choice. Can anyone chime in? Are layoffs pretty regular?
It's due to headcount (at least that's what I was told) retention here has been high.
So decisions had to be made between performance and new hires?
I wouldn't say layoffs are uncommon. If anything, it's usually based around performance right?
So 1's and 2's only?
Not necessarily, but performance definitely weighed in very heavily.
Can anyone at Deloitte confirm which line of service?
From what I can tell across all lines of service. In my office it was mostly Audit. A friend of mine in Chicago says Advisory. It wasn't a huge deal and nothing crazy out of the ordinary. Let's not make to ouch of a fuss out of it.
What??? They let auditors go??? What??
OP, at the end of the day if you perform well there is no reason that you'll be laid off.
Maybe I'm worrying too much. Either way, appreciate your insight.
Im a little surprised to hear that auditors were let go (i undetstand if it was due to performance issues). Did they overstaff?
Friend at deloitte sf told me they got a plenty of kids just sitting in office unassigned.
A friend of mine in the LA office was laid off a few months ago in audit. last in , first out
Can confirm Headcount/retention comments are true, our office in the Midwest just lost a couple staff/seniors due to low turnover
Deloitte currently has the lowest turnover rate in 10 years. Tax was on a hiring freeze for a few months last quarter while they reexamined headcount.
When they do these layoffs, are the people eligible for unemployment, or are they actually "fired" due to performance versus laid off?
6 layoffs in a "small" office? Wow that's a big hit
It went on for few days? I think it might still be going on. A few from our office got sent out.
