Got my O-1B interview coming at the Consulate next week. Just wondering if anybody has ever been denied a visa at that stage and why?
O1 is risky for sw engineers as it is abused so denials are becoming more common.
How is it being abused?
Did you go through the O-1 application process? It’s crazy complex. My document was 500 pages long. They do check up on relevance. In any case, O-1 isn’t H1B which clearly has been abused by consulting firms.
Sorry. You are denied.
Oh? Damn... well thanks for letting me know. Saves me a trip to the Consulate then 😅
What’s your extraordinary accomplishments?
🍆
Knowing how to google and SO. It's funny how most human population is bad at this
Once approved, the interview is just a technicality. Just don’t say anything stupid.
Yeah I figured. But I thought I see if there are any horror stories now that the US is looking everywhere for reasons to not have people enter.
Yeah, never heard about a denial in the interview, for example.
Update if anybody is interested. Easy as pie. It really was just a formality.
What is O 1b?
“The O-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the individual who possesses extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics.” Just took that straight from Google. It’s great alternative to H1B.
Good to know though, not bad though. But I doubt folks who have done MS can qualify.
