Design Culture at JPMorgan Chase

Anyone from JPMC design team out here? or developers / business partners who regularly work with design department? I’m considering a role with JP Morgan, but haven’t been able to get a good sense for the culture of the team. What’s your take? Any thoughts?

Location? YOE? I interact with design team somewhat regularly, but at the side of the bank I’m on it seems all designers are contractors, ours was just let go (second one this year). Both in London (I am not)

Columbus, Delaware, NYC are the locations they are offering.

There’s a LOT of staff reduction in high CoL areas (Jersey+NYC+London) but I imagine there’s tons of other companies in NYC that would take you if that happens. Columbus site is big (~10k people). NYC has limited office space and it’s unlikely you would sit next to your team. Unfortunately I don’t know where our next designer will come from but I imagine NYC/Columbus/Dallas is likely. I would add that I am leaving JPMC and don’t have a very good opinion of this place as an employer. No axe to grind but if Cisco is on your resume I imagine you can do better

Cisco the design teams are extremely siloed by location. If you are going into digital do not expect an overall cohesive design culture. Feel free to DM me if you need specifics but I worked closely with NYC, Delaware, Plano and SF design teams. Depending on your role and location each place is unique. In my option The current digital design leadership which is based in SF is quite lacking.

Design is more focused on production work. Not true design.

If it's not in a "garage", I doubt you will truly be designing
