I’ve been interviewing with eBay and would love to hear honest feedback on those in the product design discipline. There is lots of talk about modernizing and pushing innovation at eBay, how much is that actually being put into practice? I know eBay is up against a legacy tech stack but want to hear more about culture, how much red tape there is, what’s the work life balance and total compensation for a staff level product designer? Thanks! #productdesigner #ebay
Design culture: unknown w new design VP after last was canned Work/life balance: based on team and eBay cultural is great and people managers are supposed to positive enforce this Red tape: significant but TBD on team Total comp: based on location cause remote has pay cut
Despite of the best intentions updating our design never seems to meet the revenue bar because it’s not tangible and requires costly tech stack upgrades. I know from my interaction that this is frustrating to the design team since they know what to do but can’t get buy-in. I’m sure it’s a negative for attracting top talent even now that we’ve mostly had a much needed weeding out of toxic design leadership.
