What's your skills are in DevOps tool.. like you easily code in python?
Devops needs a variety of Skiils. Python is my main programming language and I am decent at it. Skills I acquired to crack these interviews are as follows. Infrastructure provisioning - Terraform Configuration management - Ansible, Puppet Cloud - AWS, Azure Container Orchestration - Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad, RedHat Openshift Monitoring - Prometheus, Grafana Cloud and Appdynamics CI/CD - GitLab, Jenkins, FluxCD Networking - F5 LTM, WAF, DNS, DR, SSL/TLS, etc OS - Linux Log aggregation - Elasticsearch, Kafka, Kibana DB - Oracle and MongoDB Hope this helps.
I also know all the above technology.. only problem is python.. I didn't much on that side
I would go for either Amazon or Google for resume reasons. But you already have 8 YOE. So I guess go to the one that pays the most. Good job on landing these offers. May I dm you for DevOps career tips ?
Thanks. DevOps is an evolving field. I am continually learning as well. I will try to help where I can.
Hey man good job on getting these offers. I work as an L5 DevOps Consultant at AWS. Can I ask how easy or difficult it was to get a Google interview and/or offer? Are they still hiring a lotta consultants these days?
Thanks. The position I cleared is not directly with Google, but it's with 66 degrees, a Google Cloud partner. How do you like it at AWS? Are you in professional services team?
Oh gotcha, ok. Yes I’m in Pro Serve at AWS. I don’t recommend staying here for long, it’s usually just a skipping stone to SDE or SA roles at AWS
N.K. ?
Which company did you joined?? I done with Symbolic final round, expecting numbers tomm. For SRE position
I joined Symbotic. That’s awesome. Good luck. Keep me posted.
Nice.. Congrats
How much should I expect ? Exp: around 6 yrs
It depends if you have any other competing offers. My HR tried to dig out information from me regarding all my offers and current compensation and then only came up with the final numbers at the end. I held my ground to not reveal too much and ended up getting a decent offer in comparison to my other offers at hand.
Ok got it…Thanks for the insight
Op can I DM?
Congrats OP on the offers. Where are you located? Based purely on comp, Symbotic seems like the best best. AWS pay is comparable, but then you must ask yourself, is it worth dealing with the bad wlb and culture? But idk what Symbotic is like. Or maybe use your offers as leverage to get Google to offer more money. That would be best scenario. Is Google SRE an SWE position, or just a pure SE/SRE?
Thanks. I am located in VA. I am not sure about WLB at Symbotic either. It recently went public and they are aggresively hiring. AWS - This team is professional services, I will have ramp up time of 15 to 18 months. But they offered me a L4 role saying I could soon ramp up to L5 or L6 and the pay will be adjusted immediately. Google Cloud SRE is a consultant position in 66 degrees, where I will be helping out clients to migrate to GCP environments.
