Is Israel getting bad PR the reason for banning tik tok?
I have a new grad offer for a devops role at AT&T with total comp being 97k and I have a potential offer for a SWE role at Verizon paying the same amount. What do you think is the preferable option? YOE: 3 summer internships
Do you have any preference? Or just in term of career progression? DevOps might be looked down on but it’s one of the most critical roles in software development.
In terms of career progression
SWE first. Devops roles will gladly take an SWE looking for a change SWE hiring managers will wonder if you can “really code” if you’re going devops to SWE without having been an SWE before It’s easier to be a dev the first time while you have the offer in front of you now

Make it a poll. Imo SWE. It’s easier to move from SWE to Devops but not sure about the opposite.
Do DevOps is you want career growth. It’ll teach you a lot of breadth of work. But do DevOps at a place that’s has more coding involved or else you’ll dig yourself a grave if your coding skills are rusty. There are a lot of places who say DevOps but do all the ops work and scanty dev
I’d choose SWE if it’s my first job.
