Dexcom vs. Illumina

Currently work at Dexcom and I enjoy it but received an offer at Illumina. Dexcom turned around to match the Illumina offer. I don’t know what to do. I know what to expect at Dexcom but will I regret not taking the Illumina position or will I regret leaving Dexcom? Has anyone worked at both or either and can provide some insight? Work is in Process Dev. and Strategy.

I’m curious. What’s the TC and position at Illumina? I used to work there. The experience was great, and I sometimes consider going back. They develop amazing tech.

Dude for real?

Look into what they do. It’s amazing. Some of the people there are brilliant. Key word being some. On the right projects the work is amazing. That said, I make way more money at Facebook. But all this nonsense about Facebook being full of geniuses doesn’t ring true when I compare to some of my coworkers at Illumina.

Are you considering taking the counter (retention) offer from dexcom?

Leave. Can be awkward if you stay, even though they counter-offered. Not uncommon for folks to be left off of critical projects, as they can assume you have one foot out of the door.

TC & Position? Being on blind requires this as input to seek answers.

Don't ever take a counter offer. That's never a good move. However, having worked at both, you'll find much of the same at either. Illumina technology is way more interesting though.

Please post the offer details

TC and position matters, please share. Also, the two companies are in different markets, but it sounds like that doesn't matter to you?

Similar company, similar values, same city. Focus on the TC, don’t play urself.

Dexcom swe management is bad. They don't have a coherent strategy. The scope for growth is also not a lot. Unless you have excellent people skills. I would say make a switch, but hard to suggest unless you share your TC, stocks, yoe

Dexcom is toxic. Illumina is worse. Worked at both. Good luck
