I understand inflation, downturn and blah blah. What if…Just What if Apple didn’t do the IDFA, META would still be Facebook. Everything started coming down when apple started doing this . If there was no IDFA, FB would have just carried on with their AD business as ever and may be just grind a year with just freeze like other big tech until everything recovers. They would have never ventured this heavily into this Metaverse BS. Will we still be seeing all these layoffs ? First Snap now Meta every AD business is ruined. Is the Apple the one to blame for this chain reaction ? Or would be still be seeing this otherwise. #meta #apple
If you don’t know yet, Apple is the greediest of them all. Of course we aren’t surprised. Just look at what they charge for their products.
And what's wrong? I fking hate seeing 2 ads in YouTube before every video. Google search has 6 full size ads before I get unsponsorred links. Wtf!!!! I want the shit GONE. Idgaf how many meta, Google, snap employees lose their jobs. I have had it with this ads shit.
1 Apple phone lasts over 6 years. 1 Google phone however…
Shrooms and blind! I am sure that’s the case because stupid thoughts and no tc in post.
Why should Apple care about whats good for Meta? We aren’t a communist country.
Apple didn’t hurt just Meta. It impacted other apps like Snap, Pinterest, etc
My point doesn’t change. The move had a positive effect for Apple and that’s all that matters.
People were paying millions for monkey jpegs a year ago. Things got a bit out of hand.
Non-fungible tokens!
Bought by very fungible yokels.
Doesn’t Android also have do not track?
Google probably has a backdoor
Google had the benefit of being able to test that their ads will still work before shipping the 'do not track'. IIRC initially they had anonymity granularity on chrome in the thousands (e.g. you could only be identified as being some person in a group of thousands of people) but found that they couldn't serve ads properly, so they scoped it down to a couple hundred.
blame all you want its a free market. the way I see it, people just underestimated the hardware until recently when apple just crippled them. hw doesnt make money blah blah blah. there ya go. im happy this happened
Apple is cripple too. Iphone sale is down, and noone is going to pay for apple iAds. It’s a lose lose situation
remind me after q4.. sales going strong
Metaverse started in 2015
And it ended in 2022
Yes. It's bigger than that really, if Meta lost 10B in adrev, small businesses lost 200B+. They don't buy ads for charity, they buy them because they convert. (Only a tiny slice of our ad rev is marketing, the vast majority in sales)
And stop the bs. Meta show not care about small businesses. Lol. They can still post ads on iads or Amazon ads or whatever
It's not about care, we're just a platform that they place auctions on. By taking information away from the auction everyone loses, FB, people, GDP, business owners that put up their savings.
Yes. Facebook/Meta basically should have paid off Apple to evade or forestall privacy action.
Yup. Same way google pays apple to provide a service. Pay to play. Real estate costs money. No free lunches

How big are the balls of Google to lay off thousands and then do 70 BILLION in stock buyback?
Metaverse was coming, with or without IDFA.
IDFA just accelerated it in the downhill
