I am on maternity leave, had the baby, recovering well and want to use the relatively free time in the final part of my leave towards something else. happy to go back to my current role, so not looking to do any interview prep. Any other ideas?
Learn a new skill. Something you wished you had time to learn but didn’t during your work. Also spend the time finding a few reliable babysitters that you can use after you are back to work!
Look for better jobs! Prepare for interviews.
Take Andrew Ng's machine learning course.

Good luck with finding “free time” lol 😂
TBH when both parents help and not have a baby with crazy needs then you do get some free time after the first few weeks. In my case my wife sent me over to work instead to save leave time to use it to visit family abroad.
Sure, but you can’t see straight because your sleep rhythms are disrupted. Also, I think she’s referencing traveling, which is pretty difficult if you are breastfeeding. I think a lot of working first time Moms are in denial about the physical toll the first year+.
Learn a new skill. That’s what I did. Probably something that will help you move up in your current role.
Skill like what?
I learnt a new programming language and technology that will help me in my role. I also read a couple of books that were in my bucket list from long time.
Try to get back the strength/fitness
