Did you get an offer from Amazon despite not solving the coding questions optimally? This was for the EC2 team which has a higher bar. By the time I got done with the LP questions and pulled teeth to figure out what was being asked, there was only about 15 mins left for coding.
Make this a poll
I got lucky with 3/4s of my coding questions but flubbed the final one on the most junior interviewer. My brain had just given up after perfectly solving the prior questions. I got a strong offer. I suspect that the negative datapoint given by the junior interviewer was discounted because I aced the HM and BR interviews.
What's BR?
higher bar for ec2? really?
I ran out of time in one round (we went 60 minutes instead of the allotted 50), still got the L6 offer.
I got the solution, but did not finish the code and in another interview finished the code for part of the solution but the other part was sub optimal. Still got L6. However, I did well on design and leadership questions.
I have been rejected several times even after provided an optimal solution. So that makes me think coding is not the deciding factor . I’m starting to think past experience from a FAANG company , Ivy League degree etc could be the deciding factor
I have passed candidates who don’t finish, provided they understand the problem and write the important parts cleanly.
