I am an SRE@Google and thinking about the job change. I was wondering if anybody has an idea of compensation and work culture difference between SRE@Google and Production Enginner@facebook? Probably someone has experience with both?
Next to none paperwork for new designs, no need for approvals before starting a project. Extremely easy to create new things that go live overnight. Management is hands off and rarely gets involved in technical decisions. As the flip side of the coin, it will be up to you as the project owner to make sure it fits in a big picture and people appreciate it. If it does not fit, then you did it wrong. Comp is about the same.
