In my company, i think on an average the Delta is 10% in favor of engg
PM is higher here. I make more than the manager of my eng team.
Fucking PM doesn’t do any work and makes more than me
Then become a PM if it's so easy?
No brainer here. They pay three managers in hierarchy, higher wages each than two engineers who report one of the manager.
That’s weird. In the two companies I’ve been at, almost all the engineers on the team were making more than their manager. Managers (and PMs) are dime-a-dozen; someone who actually creates something tangible (code) is infinitely more valuable.
It’s always amazed me that PMs get paid what they do for what amounts to a primarily clerical position. 🤔
It always amazed me that engineers get paid what they do for what amounts to a primarily data entry position. 🤔
Engineers don’t do data entry
Engineers +20% vs PMs.
Is PM role at risk of rejections for H1B in the future?
Does PM stand for Product Manager or Program Manager? Or did you mean Engineering Manager? Most of the engineering and product managers I have worked with were engineers before. They just chose a different role based on their strengths/aptitude. I wouldn’t generalize one group as better than the rest. It is also not rare to find an engineer who would be more successful as a manager, or a manager who would be more successful as an engineer.
Here they usually mean Product Manager. But it definitely used to mean Project Manager. And what's the diff between PM and Product Owner???
It’s much higher than that at FANGT companies.
I think at Twitter it's in favor of PM's, no?
PMs are non technical roles, therefore lower pay than engs.
