Started my marketing career with a 1 year internship at Zappos. Worked for smaller companies for a few years and now work for the biggest news conglomerate in the US. Trying to get into some bigger companies, whether its FAANG, or similar. I’d like to think I have a great resume, with a heavy focus on e-commerce, paid social, Google Shopping, and email marketing. My resumes do NOT seem to get through, as I’m typicaly always rejected without an interview. I’ve got certifications, I’m working on my Master’s, but I feel stuck. I feel like I can’t tap into my goal companies no matter what I do. Any thoughts, advice, similar situations? Willing to send my resume id anyone wants to give feedback!
I love the industry, I think it's very high impact and the tech side is growing everyday. What city are you in? Do you code? Programtic is the only way to securely get up there in pay for DigMrkt
I’m in Upstate, New York and looking to move out west, just trying to find the right job. I know basic coding, but have been interested in it for a while. When I’m finished with my Master’s, I plan to take some coding courses. In terms of marketing, what extent of coding do I need? At the end of the day, I still do love Marketing. BUT with that being said, I know what my goals are and I can make adjustments to my skill set as needed.
I would recommend moving into NYC and working at the one of the top 40 digital marketing firms in the world that are all only in NYC. West coast doesn't really do marketing, they hand it off to their "growth" guy who is just a wannabe PM that's always on social media. A lot of cool things can be done with javascript that are a force multiplier as far as marketing is concerned, you'd see more of this in NYC.
Take a look at Adobe. We have digital marketing (software) solutions. If you see anything that interests you, PM me.
Thanks! Just checked them out. I’ll send you a PM.
