In an internal memo, CEO Jason Citron said the company grew headcount too quickly over the past few year https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/11/24034705/discord-layoffs-17-percent-employees In other word when CEO/upper management over hires it’s the employees fault . Anyway more layoffs this week.
So sad. Discord used to be one of my top list but seems getting worse after covid-hype cooled off
Now I see why discord people were asking where to find jobs lol
5 months of severance ain’t too shabby. Enjoy the paid vacation!
How does discord even make money?
I don't know much about discord but they have subscription services if I remember correctly.
Turns out many companies aren’t actually making money. I like discord Engineer blogs but seeing they 5x their workforce in less than 5 years blows my mind as one of the stupidest decisions the company is likely to ever make. I think we are all truly baring witness that tech leadership are full of morons that don’t know how to make successful profitable companies that allow their employees to live their lives and support their loved ones. These are the same types of leaders that sent hundreds of thousands of men to their death in WW1 because they too thought they knew it all when any soldier in the Trench could have provided useful insight.
Damn!! Discord is pretty good app tbh
Its so good there's not much to add other than some minor improvements here and there
Maybe for little kids
Too many layoffs this week, what a soft landing
Tech industry and all tech jobs dont even make up 5% of the overall workforce . We have still massive labor shortages in other sectors.
@MassMutual have empathy, people in tech have persistent main character syndrome they can’t think of a world outside the bubble.
Answer: they don’t make money and their revenue doesn’t cover bagels. Like Twitch.
what's the severance package like?
5 months plus
Ok
