I am in the process of discussing compensation with one of FAANG and I already told them I interviewed with 3 other companies. Unfortunately I have no offer other than this. How should I approach compensation discussion? I can only find guides with some competing offers. The recruiter was trying to ask for my range but I didn't give him yet. And should I tell him the other companies decided not to extend any offer? I think my interview rounds went quite well so hope it might help the TC a bit. To be honest, I am not expecting to get the best TC, I just don't want them to low ball me. I am content with the average TC of my level, but somehow I believe they will claim that TC is on the high side. #tc #negotiateoffer #salarynegotiation TC: 120k, Edit: 7 yoe, offered SWE role and level is equivalent to L4/E4/SDEII.
What level? And yoe?
Added, thanks!

You typed so much yet said nothing. Which FAANG? No reason for it to be anonymous on here. What role? SWE/ Non-tech What’s your goal TC? YoE? All of these things effect where your TC might go, if you’re looking for actual help, post it. Otherwise the general advice will be to lie about offers, negotiate with the 0 leverage and hope for the best, or accept the TC.

If you have the balls, lie about competing offers but don't give any details with regards to company name or location. Use data from levels.fyi and blind to throw out the numbers. If they ask for written proof of the offers, mention that the offers are all verbal and that they need you to commit for them to generate the written offers. I personally know of a friend who was able to snag a top of the market offer with this strategy. But it comes with risks and you need to be calm and confident when talking. Best of luck!
Honestly it’ll depend on how you want to handle it. I just went through this myself. And to be honest, I went fairly easy on my worth figuring I didn’t have other offers to ask for more with. I played it a bit safe by using a sort of high average for base salary of what I was seeing for the company in my area on levels.fyi. They pretty much swept me off my feet lol and for RSU’s and the sign on gave waaay more than I even asked for. Like legit way more. So I guess my advice is try to figure out your worth, then calculate your goal base salary using that and an average of what you see on other sites. Then build from there. But others will have better advice I’m sure.
