Title says it all, going into a panel interview with Disney for a PM role. Looking for advice or insight on what to expect and how to prepare.
Nothing out of the ordinary for Disney interviews. Standard behavioral and leadership type questions. Do you know what org/team?
Nice! It's for a PM role within streaming TV
Expect a question "why disney" or in your case "why disney streaming". For PM roles there will be questions about your experience with agile (ceremonies, process, etc). For streaming, bonus if you can describe how you use metrics to drive this process (since they are trying to get to profitability this year) Be ready to describe the last few projects/products/platforms you managed, your role, the team makeup, the outcome, challenges and how you dealt with them. My favorite question to PMs is what was the last project that went poorly and how did you fix it (be specific). What I'm looking for is not pointing the finger of blame but coming up with a path forward and a clear articulation of why you chose that solution (optimizing for cost, time to market, resource allocation, etc). Queations to ask the interview panel: Who is doing this job now (is this a new position for a growing team or a backfill for someone who left)? What were the last 3 wins for this team? (Look for major features released, not privacy policy updates or changes to button colors)
Panda-verse. Make sure they know you’re LGBTQPIA2S+. You hate white supremacy You hate the patriarchy. Children can change their gender. If they get the slightest inclination you aren’t fully drinking the kool-aid on these issues you’re NOT gonna get the job. FWIW, worked for Star Wars til they ousted people.
I don't see how that was helpful. Also, you should probably find a better hobby than trolling.
Sharing important information benefits society. Gonna keep it up. You should try it sometime.
As a Disney FTE, I advise you to listen to the other Disney employee here and definitely ignore the rest of the noise.
Thanks for the comment! What are your thoughts on working for Disney?
At Disney, your experience will vary depending on the org/team. It's like asking "how's the view from your hotel room?" Someone facing the parking structure will have a different answer from someone facing the pool or facing the city. Disney is so huge that you'll find some cool parts, some boring parts, some stressful parts. You're going to streaming so you will likely find a stressful part of Disney. They just had a few bad quarters with huge losses in the revenue side. So all eyes are on them for profitability for now. St least the big push to put Hulu on Disney+ is launched. Overall working for Disney is cool especially if you have kids or like the brand. Free park admission and huge discounts on everything from hotels to cruises to merchandise. WLB is generally good but again depends on the team. Pay is decent but they are stingy with raises and promotions unless you are at a high level (director or up). So PM to senior PM or senior engineer to lead is rare. Great place to coast, if that's your thing, but hard to stand out at the lower levels.
how did you learn about this opening?
Why do you ask?
All of the open postings are here https://jobs.disneycareers.com/ for anyone to search
By panel do you mean an interview loop?
Watch South Park episode 326, that will give you all you need
Have you actually worked or interviewed there before? I get you're cracking jokes, but I'm looking for real advice.
No I have not :(
