From my understanding they have great WLB but tend to pay below market compared to big tech companies and attempt to make up for it with perks like free park tickets and the like. Personally, if I made all the money I wanted from big tech, had all my debt paid off already, and was looking to coast making enough income to cover property taxes, be happy, and have extra money to spend on hobbies and fun stuff, I’d honestly go for it. I was actually applying to Disney and Google at the same time, with D being my fallback if G didn’t work out. They were really nice people. Don’t go there if you’re super competitive and looking for FAANG money though.
Don’t go to Parks. There were a lot of layoffs due to COVID, and we’ve been in a hiring freeze more broadly too (surprising they hit you up). They don’t pay as competitively as the streaming division, and more broadly Disney pays below market. The politics here are very toxic as well. It sounds fun on paper, but having been in a similar position - stay away.
Parks is the most bureaucratic segment. DMED is better than Parks culturally.
Stay away from Disney; lots of outsourcing and layoffs as well as below average pay for SDEs.
