What happens when most of your team is Indian?
I recently completed the hiring the process at DSS at the end of September and was informed on October 1st of a hiring freeze. I have been checking in with the recruiter every week or so, but have not heard of any changes. I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight on if there is any internal timeline on when hiring can open back up? Should I hold out hope for a final decision or am I better off moving on? #disney #disneyhiring #disneystreamingservices
No timeline I am aware of. But given the growth I hope it will open up this year.
I suspect it might last at least a quarter.
VPs I work with have said Q1 most likely. However, if you already interviewed (I.e. the job was posted before October 1), they can still follow through with the hire. The hiring freeze only affects new roles.
Eh, I’m being told the interviews are being spaced between weeks within one another to follow the freeze’s timeline Expect a really annoying interview response process
Not true that the freeze only affects new roles.
This is pretty common. Given their new direction, they’re probably assessing internal talent first before offering jobs to externals.
What new direction?
Complete restructuring of DTC
I was offered and joined last month. Whole process took 3 weeks
How was comp? You joined Hulu or Disney Streaming?
We don't know when the freeze will be lifted. My guess would be towards December / January. Sorry for the predicament you're in and I hope that we're able to still get you into the company eventually.
It’s covid. Many company have hiring freezes during these times.
Disney plus should raise the price for more than 2 screens like Netflix. One screen at a time should be base price.
I think it’s too cheap to have 4 screens at time going for 7$ and it’s costly to provide all that content in parallel.
I've been in this exact situation, just different companies. Same thing happened to me right when covid-19 first hit the U.S. I had an offer, did my interviews in person before the shutdowns, put in my two weeks and then bam they have a hiring freeze. I spent a lot of time thinking about what the next steps were, and I decided to move on. I rescinded my two weeks and started applying/interviewing with other companies. Ended up getting 3 additional offers and in the process the company that went on a freeze told me they're ready to bring me on. I told them nah, because now I had better options. Don't wait for a corporation, because they would never wait for you. Don't burn the bridge with Disney, but move forward as if they don't even matter. Interview elsewhere, aggressively. Have more than one option so that even if they never ask you to come on, you'll be alright. I wish you the best with all of my heart.
