Disney layoffs?
Seeing on LinkedIn that Disney laid off SDEs. How many?
No numbers shared with us, also unclear if it’s over
7500 target but it is 2500 this 3rd wave. Mostly product, marketing, one entire Beijing team (political reasons), and lots of SVP positions. We possibly have rolling layoffs in smaller number throughout the yr bc of reorg. Disney did not hire like crazy during the pandemic. We have a hard time competing with FAANG for SWE and Data positions.

Lots of product for sure and we put initials in the Disney Lounge. It's still another day but rumors said it will hit upper management. Overall, it was stressful but it seems more predictable than Meta or Google. A lot was bc of redundancies--teams doing the same/similar work.
I heard a lot of scrum masters were cut leaving only managers to do the work. Also a lot of SWEs. Too many cuts to ICs IMO. Will be interesting to see once the reorg happens if they will need to hire ICs to fill in the gaps.
