What happens now? Where do laid off people go? Is there a clear path for people who got laid off to get another job? Will I ever get another job?? Not laid off yet but honestly ever since the news broke out about 7,000 layoffs I’ve been in full primal panic mode. I have a whole family to take care of. Pets too. Are people interviewing? Are companies even hiring right now? What’s steps are you all taking now to mitigate risk? People who were laid off before - how long did it take for you to find jobs? Omg I swear I can’t breathe. Thank you!
I remember some Disney kids were mocking Googlers for the layoff 😳 the lesson here is to be humble and empathetic
I wasn’t lol I don’t know anyone at Disney here who would honestly so sorry you had that experience!
Fyi i wasnt laid off. For you i would start interviewing. I hear from hiring managers at other companies that they used to get maybe 10 candidates in the pipeline but now they get hundreds
Same boat here :(. Everyone has been silence and bracing for impact now. I check Blind like every 10 minutes.
Same it’s nerve wracking
I did the same the night before our layoff. It sucks. Just try to back up any files or work as much as possible.
I am 68 years old and throughout my career have gone through a reorganization or a downsizing that resulted in a layoff three or four times. The first time one was the hardest because you really don’t think it is going to happen to you. The best advice I can give is to be relentless in your new job pursuits. Interview as much as possible. Make it second nature to answer questions about yourself and your work history. When you get that next job, start strategizing on what it will take to make yourself a valuable employee that the company cannot afford to layoff.
Great advice.
20% of the layoffs= 1400 will be in tech, as announced in the earnings call on Wednesday. Seattle office will be impacted most likely.
What makes you say Seattle?
+1 no one ever mentioned a location
They should atleast give some details on when it's going to happen. This uncertainty is not good for either company(people can't concentrate on work)or employee.
The delay is actually good! It’s saving more jobs! Would you rather get a mass layoff email? I don’t think so. Let the process work, Disney is trying to save as many jobs as possible.
Use your sick days and rest and practice
💯
I’ve got a massive offer coming in and can’t wait to flip the tables on Disney. No more panicking or stress for me.
Congratulations!!!
Relax! I laid off jan 18. Got a verbal offer yesterday. Not easy but not impossible. Plenty of jobs in mid size corps and startups. What is your field?
Where do you find a list of hiring companies
Thank you! I’m in sdet
