I'm interviewing for Checkout.com and might receive an offer. I have another offer that I have to respond to very soon. I saw a lot of bad blind/Glassdoor reviews. Do the negative comments still stand? Is working at Checkout stressful? Should I join or just go with the other offer? How do engineers in general feel about working there? I wanted to join because it is a very strong name to add to the resume but I'm slightly freaked out. TC: 0, unemployed new grad
If you're willing to sacrifice your mental health and deal with a high workload, then accept the offer from Checkout.
If you have any other options, take them. It’s the most toxic company I’ve ever worked for. The Glassdoor reviews (the negative ones) are accurate, the People team have been doing their best to remove all the negative ones while adding obviously fake positive ones (no details). The CTO and CPO are both crap, especially the CTO though, totally un inspirational with zero vision while contributing to the horrible culture. The only decent c level person (cmo) was fired for disagreeing with our policies around diversity.
Huge +1 to this comment. Avoid
The negative comments are completely true I’m afraid. I would avoid as a grad.
My team as we the teams I know are currently working with any goal, okr because all previous employees have left causing tech debt and their is no motivation left
Your team is backend or frontend?
Backend
For a new grad, it's a no brainer, you won't regret joining
Hey! Does checkout hire from outside the UK too? Currently based in the US, looking for opportunities in the UK.
I believe they do
