My last working day is on a Friday and I am joining the new organization on the following Monday. We are doing a road trip that involves 14 hours driving and I am not sure if I should go without insurance.
You are fine, you can apply for cobra retroactively if you have to. But your insurance might not expire until end of month anyways.
Got an email stating "Insurance expires on LWD".
You can sign up for cobra retroactively (I believe up to 30 days later). I’ve been in this situation and did not pay for insurance in the two day gap. If I’d had medical expenses in those two days, I’d have signed up for cobra retroactively.
Lmao 2 days? Come on - just don’t go bungee jumping in China
I know it sounds too paranoid but with the emergency room costs, it's scary to be without insurance. But looks like COBRA got my back.
Health insurance stay active till month end. You are good
Depends on the company but usually this is true
Just stay home man
Hahaha.. Not happening!!
It lasts for the month
In some companies insurance lasts until the end of the month. In others it ends on the last day of employment. But COBRA provides retroactive coverage as others pointed out so no need to get insurance to cover a small gap.
Unless you are hemorrhaging blood I think you will be fine

Principal Software Engineer TC~300K at Microsoft vs 600K at Meta. Is 300k pretty low for Principal scope?
You would have COBRA
Is it by default or I need to opt for it?
Sorry if my questions are stupid but I really don't understand this Insurance thing at all.
