Have already been working on the company, still have a ton to do but is difficult while working a demanding job. Despise working at aws and is taking a toll on my mental health. What should I do? — Update: I quit Tc:200
Start your own company and PIP the living hell out of them to show them who’s the big bad Amazon bawse
😂 I like where your heads at
You could try creating your own start up like a e-commerce website that sells books online or provide cloud hosted services where people can deploy their apps
Should I name it rainforest?
Yup that’s a good name. That would go well with the “7 Principal Rules of Making it Rain Bills 💵 “
Just reduce your time share in job. Best case you focus on max impact and become more productive, maintain outcomes. Worst case your perf takes a toll, you get pip’d, takes 6 months and you pocket that time of salary + healthcare, plus severance
Salary and severance are both quite nice. Don’t want a pip though in case the company doesn’t work out and I want to get another solid job
Unless you want to go back to amazon, what’s the issue? When asked why you left amazon you started your company. You won’t receive a public shaming badge
You want to quit when there’s an anticipated crash greater than the recession?
Also a fair consideration
Yes, lower rsu grant prices
Stay…
Having gone through this before, and based on the fact that you have mentioned that you are young, without kids or mortgage and have some money saved up to take care of yourself if things were to go south, I would recommend that you quit and focus solely on your company. I didn't and I still regret. It got very difficult to do both and I ended up giving up on my company. I talked to few other startup CEOs at the time and everyone had said the same thing.
Really appreciate your insight
Good luck!
I did it. Make sure you have a cofounder, and a solid business plan to bring in revenue out of the gate. Investors see revenue they’ll hop on. No revenue, no deal. I ultimately failed for the above reasons, but my thing is still a side hustle that brings in 1000 a month. Might try and grow it the next time I have a gap between jobs.
Also despite the huge opportunity cost, I have no regrets. I learned a ton in that 1.5yrs
I do have a cofounder, not an eng though. Confident in getting a letter of intent/initial few customers to pilot as long is our execution is good. Still a ton of work to be done to get there though. I appreciate your advice!
Update: I quit. Thanks everyone for the advice!
Good luck buddy!
Appreciate it!

Depends on the company and your financial situation
Big void in the market but completely depends on the quality of execution. I could completely miss the mark lol
Financial situation is alright, am young and have some money saved up
