Do YC prefer founders from FAANG?

Both co-founders are from FAANG and have 5+ years of experience there. While evaluating the application, does YC partners give extra brownie points to co-founders from FAANG? TC: $350k, YoE: 7 years Troll army - hold your breath, target some other post. This is a serious business, my friend!

No. YC prefers products with existing user base

If anything they should give brownie points to founders from hyper growth, all else being equal. The challeges you expenrience at a hyper growth startup is very similar to what they hope you will experience. FAANG you have less scope as you would in a startup, less stress, less changing deadlines, a bunch of internal cushy tooling, you also get to launch fratures with a ton of data which at startup stage you don’t have so diff judgement, etc etc. Michael Seibal from ay combinator has a video mentioning FAANG doesn’t mean much, there are tens of thousands of other engineers, pms, etc with same/very similar qualifications.

Nope. They want people who can actually build and scale a startup. I wouldn't expect that skillet from a FAANG employer because they don't have the same sense of urgency as a typical startup founder typically deals with. They don't understand startups pay less for a reason, and they are usually not prepared to make that sacrifice. When you read posts on here from FAANG employees, they shun startups saying they are too hard, thar they require too much effort or take advantage of non-founder s- all of which are inaccurate With that mindset, why would YC want to work with founders who hate working at those companies so much?
