Does it happen that one can get pushed down to L5? Is it possible to come in at L7 if you have the right experience? I'm asking because my recruiter hasn't discussed anything about TC and levels with me as yet and I don't want to upset the process when I'm about to go onsite. (YoE: 8yrs, of which, 5yrs is Product Management)
What’s the deal with auto up-leveling MBAs over BBAs? 🤷♀️ I can understand a TC bump but neither candidate has real world experience. An MBA does not deserve to automatically obtain Sr title alongside those who have spent years earning them.
What levels do BBA come in at? And do BBAs come in as PM or Sr. PM?
They do it to match MBB
No. Not all MBAs come in as L6...nor should they.
I also know a few part time MBAs (from top schools) who still came in at L5. It really depends.
You Guys do know SDE L5 making much more than L6 TPM, right?
Absolutely...
What?
Why would a pm get an mba to move back into pm? How is this worthwhile at all?
Moving countries, long term value of MBA.
A panel for finance yesterday said that 90% of MBA’s come in as an L6 the other 10% came in as an L5
As far as I know, this is correct. However, the TC will be around $150k (or less), whereas an industry hire PM L6 could be almost double.
Hohoho fake L6s
Ummm nope. TC for the Retail Leadership Development Program is about $170k-$180k. Sr PM is higher than that and Sr. PMT is even higher. You could make more if you make it as a Sr. Tech PM, but generally MBAs don't come in at this role.
