Do any Bay Area companies drug test for weed?

If so, which ones? Personally I believe it’s a fool’s errand to waste time or something as trivial as smoking weed on a legal state, so I’d rather not waste my time applying to those companies.

No. Never heard any company doing that. At least tech companies.

IBM tvB4gd7 May 10, 2019

No they’d lose half their talent overnight

Oracle pzd May 10, 2019

Do you mean they will only perform at 50% capacity without weed 😜

6 of one half a dozen of the other

Only Tesla... and if you fail you get a special invite to light up with Elon

IBM tvB4gd7 May 10, 2019

Does Tesla actually test? I’ll join the Elon sucks for smoking weed crowd if it does.

SAP Alo Palto May 10, 2019

Nah man they don’t

Twitter chutya May 10, 2019

Eaze does. You can be fired if you are not committed to the product.

OpenTable Meliodas May 10, 2019

Generally you only see testing in companies with federal contracts, law enforcement related, some finance, etc.

Kaspersky Lab aye dais May 10, 2019

It’s actually illegal, if medical/recreational use is legalized.

No, it is legal.

Kaspersky Lab aye dais May 10, 2019

Wasn’t this post about Seattle initially? It’s legal in California, yes, they have specific clause in proposition 64

Apple gtUh6$ May 10, 2019

It would be discrimination. Why not test for alcohol, nicotine, or unusual amounts of painkillers, fat ingested, as well then? What should be tested is the actual performance of an employee.

Kaspersky Lab aye dais May 10, 2019

You’ll be surprised, but California’s Proposition 64, which legalized recreational marijuana use, says California employers can penalize workers who test positive for marijuana use, whether or not they were high on the job

Kaspersky Lab aye dais May 10, 2019

It’s done for government contractors as marijuana is still illegal on national level
