I have been working in Scala for last 2 years. I also learn F# and Haskell in my personal time. I really like FP and spend a lot of time trying to learn advanced FP concept. Do big companies like FB, Amazon, Google or Apple care about FP? The place where I work most of the code is legacy and so from a management perspective it’s important to be fast and don’t break stuff. No one really cares about FP. Is it the same case everywhere?
Op we do care a lot about functional programming. If you want a job where you are paid to apply functional programming concepts at massive scale - hit me up. We are looking to hire people like you.
Interesting. How is the pay?
Pretty good- if you have the skills Apple will pay pretty well.
How much experience do you have?
15 years plus.
We use scala in machine learning/data science. Rest of the company is a java shop
Facebook uses Haskell.
They have a library called, Haxl
We use F#. Hit us up.
