I personally don’t think this is case but curious to hear other opinions especially FAANG companies like Meta who has been trying to appear as more diverse since 2020. I mean in this market, they are not going to cut corners when it comes to the hiring bar and only hire the best. Maybe it only helps in getting interviews but once you interview I think they are only going to hire the best TC: 215K P.S I am not a “minority” but one of two non-Indians in our team of 25, but PANW isn’t FAANG so they don’t really care
Yes it helps.
Yes cuz I have had coworker who are software engineer that have never coded
That doesn't have anything to do with their race dude. You work at Northrop Grumman.. its defense
Having interviewed a fair number of SWEs from NG and other defense contractors, all I can say is that it's very likely you're throwing stones in a glass house. I assume there are some good SWEs working at some of them somewhere, but I have yet to meet any.
Me and my girlfriend sent in our resumes for University Grad SWE 2022 position in Google. I had two really good internships on my profile and she had none. 3 months down the line, she 'almost' had an offer, and my resume 'almost' got shortlisted for Interviews 😄
Probably it helped her get shortlisted but the offer is based on merit I think
Same for offer stage, it greatly helps you if you are a minority
Whenever I search for recruiters on LinkedIn I’ll always see quite a few who specialize in DE&I incentives.
From my experience at Meta/Google/unicorn, diversity helps you with getting the interview but not with the interview itself. There might be an unconscious bias applied to their feedback, but it's definitely not a concrete boundary being shifted. If the standard is 3/4 yes and a "diverse" candidate gets 2/4 they won't get hired
True. I understand unconscious or even conscious bias from HMs because maybe they have incentives to diversify but interviewers probably can’t care less and they are going to give you an unbiased feedback regardless of your race/gender. So it won’t help get you that extra yes you need but maybe will help push you if you are equal with another candidate
Yes definitely
My employer has specific KPAs for both diversity hires and retention.
Sounds pretty illegal. Like a violation of the Civil Rights Act illegal.
"Diversity hires" don't exist, but diversity pipelines do. Prioritized interviews, but same hiring bar.
In an ideal world the bar is the same.
I second this. As a black SWE, some diversity minded recruiters at large companies are eager to get me into the interview pipeline. But once I’m in said pipeline, the question difficulty and hiring bar is exactly the same as everyone else
Samsung do, cz 80% are Koreans,
Is it true that, in Korea, working at Samsung is like the pinnacle or a career and that hundreds of thousands apply every year?
Its a korean jail , don't trust articles that are paid by company to write
