Do companies actually make you pay back your signing bonus?

Considering leave before my 1 year Mark and I’ll have to pay my bonus back per the contract. Will they actually reach out? Doesn’t seem worth there time

Amazon amazoneian Apr 28

Yes

Microsoft KTXO07 Apr 28

Yes lol

Maybe. Depends how much they have their shit together, how big they are etc. I worked for a smaller company, left after 7 months. They never asked. A friend worked at Amazon in 2016, they repeatedly sent letters via registered mail, he ignored, never heard anything else from them. Could be different now though

This. I experienced the same.

What year was that?

money is money, and they'd want to enforce it so it doesnt set a precedent for others or for you to break other terms in the contract

PayPal kuArqQd5 Apr 28

Is the bonus less than $5k? Then you can probably keep it

Amazon Ocuv84 Apr 28

Definitely yes lol

Microsoft ytcisman Apr 28

i don’t know how people can’t ride out a job for 1 year

Cruise Slim-Jack Apr 28

And really I hope you never had to learn it

Workday pwenut Apr 28

No they just put that they’ll take it back as a funny joke

Apple zeoR68 Apr 28

Yes

Microsoft gfsg4 Apr 28

Nah, they just make you sign a contract saying you'll pay it back if you leave before a certain date for shits and giggles.
