Do major finance companies revoke I-140 if the immigrant employee leaves the firm ( within an year of filing that is)?

I’m wondering if I should start my Green Card filing process with BlackRock because I have an approved I-140 from a previous employer ( who won’t/ can’t revoke the I-140 anymore ) since BlackRock makes you sign the repayment clause ?

Nope, reputed employers never revoke your I-140. It's only the shady consulting companies that threaten to do this.

Even in the one year window they can ? Have you seen such examples ? Reputed firms are the first ones to revoke H1Bs, smaller firms ( if you have good relations ) will still wait for you to find a new job before they inform USCIS.

Bigger the company, more formal would it's processes would be. I don't know the rule. But bigger companies will simply follow the rule.

They can not revoke if you leave them after 6 months of I-140 approval.

It costs time and money to revoke I140. They should not do it unless you pissed someone off.

Why do you need i140 at new company. You can use the old i140 for rest of your life. It s unlikely to be current during your career here if from India

Lol good point ... I think it’ll be a good idea to file for new perm when the current priority date moves closer to mine. But I’m scared what if the labor laws become more strict then ( or in fact going forward ) ... will I have to go back to my previous employer then to get the EAD ?

If you think priority date will become current for you anytime soon you are deluding yourself :). You may change companies again in 5-10 years and will have to keep filing the i140 every time. So better to not worry about it unless you plan on staying at the same company for rest of your life

Why do you bother about it, dint you read the changed law,if you leave the company after 180 days of I-140 approval then you’re good till PD becomes current and keep changing companies without worrying about PERM filing immediately, once the PD comes close you can start the filing process, if from India which might be never 🤭
