I am a top-tier rated l7, and I just had to miss my daughter’s bday because my director had his ass kicked by VP. I joined Amazon out of desperation, and I worked extra hours not to lose my job. I am jumping ship after my 2024 vest. Amazon should your last preference

That’s on you for chasing the TT carrot. I promoted L6 at less than 4 YoE from new grad. I also work 60 hours a week. That is my choosing. I can work 40 hours a week but maybe my promos would had taken 6 YoE. I’m 27 and not settled. Do not want your life 🥲 when I do settle.
At age 27 you should not waste so much time on a company which can kick you out Anyday. These years of youth will never come back. Start enjoying your life. I know you will call me a hater. But when you will be at my age you will understand that this is coming from experience

You’re lucky you only missed a birthday. Even if you were on a ventilator, the director would’ve asked you to join a meeting before you died.
You’re an L7 and you don’t know how to push back? Or you don’t have a strong enough support network under you that you can delegate work to in emergencies? Amazon definitely isn’t a cake walk, but at no point while I was there was a forced to give up vital life events for work. I always had a supportive team willing to trade shifts or jump in if I had to be away for hours or even a few days. Also, being TT is great, but generally not sustainable long term bc it puts you in these spots where you have to choose work over life.
