Do people working in consulting make more money that tech workers?

No but their ceiling is higher. They make 50-75% of big tech early on but exit into leadership roles that will pay more.

But how is it possible that everyone gets leadership roles in tech? Are there so many roles?

Facebook duisklavam Nov 16, 2020

You don’t have to exit into tech. Just any F500 company they have experience with.

Fuck no. Consulting is for salesmen and scrubs (former consultant here).

How did you make the transition, Microsoft?

Consulting in what? That’s too generic a term. Every industry has ‘consultants’. Pay ranges from $10 to $100 million.

Only been a few years out of MBA, but I can say with confidence that the folks who went to tech doing better than the MBB consultants in TC for sure due to 1. RSUs that have doubled for most tech 2. Covid probably fucked over bonuses at MBB Example: Amazon MBA Sr PMT offer in 2019 was 1st year TC of around 200k. BCG offer was TC of 190k. 1 year later, Amazon stock has doubled -> new TC is now more like 230k.

Yes but that’s because consulting is for people who can’t count. How do you go to tech if you can’t count ?
