Do you know if the FAANG and other startups use consulting firms? And if no why not? I know some of the senior guys there are ex consultants.
Yes they do. Startups as well which is always a good signal that’s crap
It’s in the decline fast. Why pay the high fees when you can poach the people and build your internal team? Once the team is internal, it also adds more value and solves confidentiality issues. (To clarify, I’m referring to MBB and other strategy and creative consultancies only, not contractor shops.)
That was my initial assumption as well. But then you can argue that for every industry (why not do internally) and still MBB are making billions
Yup cognizant has a bunch at Google and Facebook
Yeah. Big tech companies contract Creative Agencies, Consultants and whoever else they need to get the job done correctly. You are probably working on a product that was started by them. Proof: My friend worked in NYC at a creative agency called Stink Digital and they had contracts with google, shopify and apple.
Yeah - have a FAANG client now in SV.
Tech firms absolutely use consulting firms, even for technology oriented projects. Working for the biggest IT consulting firm out there, some of our highest revenue generating clients are tech firms. There is always contracted work to be down and often times firms regardless of industry will rely on reliable “guns” to get the job done.
consulting firms have MANY MANY MANY tech clients especially in the bay area - its one of the strongest industries for MBB. there are also instances where consultants will be poached to become a part of the internal strategy/development team. startups also leverage consulting firms. mck has a specific branch for startups that is incredibly popular.
Yes some of them do. At my previous company where I was a consultant I have worked with 2 of the companies under FAANG. They usually ask for stuff that needs a package ie business analysis, implementation, and advisory.
I've worked for atleast one of the faang companies

We use contractors and some act as consultants, does that count?
No, I was thinking of the big strategy consulting firms
