I think it's too costly for app developers to let Apple take such a big cut, either the cut goes down or more developers will pile on to the Epic lawsuit. I hope Google doesn't do something stupid looking at apple.
I don’t agree. It will take govt regulation to change it.
Well they take the cut and after that there’s taxes lol
Thanks for the feedback. Now pay 30%.
What cut does Best Buy take for the shipped software it sells?
This is the more relevant type of question. Still not quite apples to apples, as BestBuy spends precisely $0 of their cut to improve the software platform developers use, and does 0 technical screening for malware ( they rely 100% on reputation based screening ), nor do they host secure servers for rolling out updates, but it’s closer than those arguing credit card + 2%.
Best Buy also won’t host and sell your free software for free.
Open App Markets Act, pass it to encourage more competition!
I don’t agree.
I used to 100% back any policies they rolled out since it’s their own platform, but thinking on it more they really do have a monopoly. Decades ago the gov would have broken up a company that had as much power across different categories as Apple does today. IMO, a platform (iPhone, Android, Windows, MacOS, etc.) shouldn’t be able to restrict what software you run on that platform. They shouldn’t have to go out of their way to support unusual use cases but they should provide basic support for installing third party tech.
Yeah it needs to be regulated. If Microsoft can get in trouble for bundling Internet Explorer with Windows, Apple should get in trouble for bundling the App Store.
Not just that, don't they explicitly not allow other app stores? Lol
