We are thinking about buying a house. Most of the new communities are coming up in Hayward or Newark. Some of them are in Sanjoe or south of San Jose. Hearing a lot about possibility of an earthquake, would you rather buy farther south of San Jose ( like 30miles of daily commute) instead of directly above the fault line?
Live no more than 5 years into the future ! No earthquake in 5 years so just shut up and buy and hold !
You can’t think of that .. however I will try not buy a house right on top of Hayward fault
There was an earthquake in 1989. Did the price drop in long run?! Fact check the history
Earthquake insurance
Im not asking about prices dropping or not. More interested to know how many people will take earthquake into consideration while buying a home?
We are also due for an asteroid to hit us. It is coming.
Yes so I can enjoy my present since I don't have control over earthquakes.
Don't worry. If a big one happens, you'll either die or your company will get destroyed or your house will get destroyed or all of them together. There's no escaping it financially. Why worry then?
Yes, considered it and still purchased. And then bought earthquake insurance.
I worry much more about Yelp’s old building falling down while I am in it than something happening to my single story home.

What’s the point of playing sports if you’re not gonna compete in the Olympics?
We’re overdue for the big one, one so big that it’ll cause a housing crisis in the Bay Area by destroying so many homes that will allow the new properties lobby to win and remove laws preventing builders to build upward which will cause housing prices to drop further into a death spiral that’ll drop your $1MM home to $200K and make me a very happy buyer.
Lol, so many innacurate statements in one paragraph.... trump? Is that you?
Sounds more like Obama to me.
