If yes, what do you get out of the mentorship? What problems do you tackle together?
I have multiple career mentors who I met and interact with remotely. They were amazingly helpful when I was applying for my masters and getting my job after. Currently my field mentor is my previous supervisor who’s always open to brainstorming and sharing ideas. At my new job there is one guy who has been extremely helpful and doesn’t mind sharing his knowledge
Sounds great, thanks. Do you meet with these career mentors on a regular basis, or was it more of a one time thing when you were pursuing your Master's? Is it now the case that your exsupervisor advises with general direction and bigger problems, while the colleague is more about here-and-now advice?
How do you ask someone to be your mentor? Do you just approach him/her and ask directly?
