Update: There you have it folks, it's a landslide, a staggering number voted no. Anyone that attended the walkout here disagree? We probably won't get an answer unless someone in blind has some inside scoop or read the slack channel on the post walkout lunch break. Amazon Worker: “I’m out here because I refuse to just sit idly by while mandates are dictated from above down that don’t make sense and hurt the planet, hurt families and individual lives,” Hindley said. “And just to get us into a seat at the office for their tax incentives.” Note: The Amazon worker is just stating the tax incentives, but not how his boss see's the bigger justification. Basically, he just wants his flexibility back and don't give a shit about what is best for Amazon, but himself. Amazon Leadership: Since more employees returned to the office, Glasser said, there has also been a good energy on the company’s South Lake Union campus and at its other urban centers. Among other things, he said senior leadership watched how staff performed and talked to leaders at other companies. He said they concluded employees tended to be more engaged in person and collaborate more easily. Amazon Worker: Nothing to add here because they have nothing to back up their answer. It’s a start, but until Amazon is punished for RTO, PIP and other toxic practices at the political level and remote work is listed as a right for employees everywhere, things will never change, especially since Amazon will continue to source talent that doesn’t care or just wants to get paid even with all of toxicity that comes with it. It doesn’t help that people envy us and see us as “entitled and spoiled” or as political targets, which makes it less likely that people will co-sign the cause. TC: 90K
Amazon isn’t going to get punished because they just need to offer $200K to a new grad who cheated on the OA to get hired. And there are a billion people who will line up.
Exactly, which is why things such as remote work should be encoded as rights, and things such as PIP and layoffs should be punished more severely.
Organising a walkout at the same time when the majority of corp workers is leaving the desks for lunch was already a disaster in the making.
Many people were stuffing their face at the time 😀
It happened?
Probably this was the safest way to protest and pass the message. It got the mainstream media coverage. What do you think corporate would do to a straight up protest on rto and other policies if not under climate change flag? I think they did good as they tried!
RTO IS about climate change though. Why spend the resources to move everyone to the office if remote work is sufficient? Like I know everyone here likes RTO for a bunch of very practical reasons. But the reason I think governments and large corporations should care is because remote work is a meaningful achievable method to dramatically decrease a corporation’s environmental impact.
> Basically, he just wants his flexibility back and don't give a shit about what is best for Amazon, but himself. Stopped reading here - I have clear data that everyone up to my L10 supports remote work. I don't think you understand what productivity means. Cool dogshit opinion though
This year URA will be mandatory, brace yourself
Just resign there are 100s out waiting to work like hell for money
Much better to have a labor shortage where companies don't have the upper hand. However everyone that walked out is getting paid $300k+ and owns various property in low cost areas and they just want to continue that unfair advantage so fuck em
Now working remotely is an unfair advantage. Lmao.
Found candidates for PIP😀
From Amazon Leadership Principles: "Strive to be Earth's best employer" "Insist on the highest standards" "Leaders are obligated to respectfully challenge decisions when they disagree" "Leaders have conviction and are tenacious" Is "strive" insisting on the highest standards or being customer (Earth's people) obsessed?
Sorry didn’t read. I stopped at Idly
