I have an upcoming phone interview for docker. I am preparing for it and have few questions. If anyone can give some insights into the company. Is it a good company to work for culture, growth, compensation? Is it being overtaken by kubernetes. What kind of interview questions should I expect if it full stack focused?
How can Kubernetes "overtake" Docker?
Swarm is definitely getting KO’ed. Yes k8s is using docker (now containerd) but Docker the company aren’t profiting from this very much. It’s very one sided relationship if you ask me
Kubernetes is open enough to use AppC and RKT? Is Docker niche enough to survive on its own if Google decides to only support AppC and RKT. How will they generate revenue as other pointed?
K8s is an orchestration layer, Docker is a containerization technology. They’re mutually exclusive. I am not trying to be rude but this is very fundamental and it might be worthwhile to put some more time in.
See my other comment in adj thread. Swarm is def losing more steam now
Hmm everyone at docker knows they lost to K8S, just look at the engineer churn. They are doing decent ARR wise because the business of supporting windows 7. Not to be rude, but understanding the business is also important when making career choice.
How is docker doing lately with their desktop solutions ?
