Keep the nets wide open. Most good engineering talent is leaving including key architects. Product has killed all innovative products to please the board who have sold the place to SAP. Revenues questionable. UX team disappeared in the last quarter. Ever see a whale dying?
of course. no doubt about it. hypervisor should be free. management plane makes money. 101 lessons of virtualization business ( vmware )
Haha, I love OPs nick. SAP bought docker though?
They had such potential, this is sad. Loved docker.
Ah found a fellow wsb er in the wild
What's up fam, long MU?
I had a colleague five yrs ago who left google to join docker and returned to google 6 months later. Seems like this was a long time coming.
Happens when the founder is fired and when the product org loses its vision. Tens of examples at Yahoo! Rip Docker. You almost had decent usability. Is the Moby product dead?
It’s an enterprise company with an important but easily open sourced product. What do you expect? Even vmware is a medium sized company targeting the same market after 20 years. U can’t be a frontline company by doing enterprise these days.
Kubernetes ftw
Too much of docker is open source and the pressure from k8 is massive. Shame.
k8s will also die like this in 1-2 years. such a crappy code and too many master branch breaks in recent times. too much chaos. it was trick by google to attract people towards google cloud. but not working at this moment if we compare against aws and azure.
Surprised.
Product org is in free fall. No direction from a CPO or a VP. Engg is also bleeding. Absent CEO in Seattle. You guys should buy them out. Cheap sale.
