Does Amazon actually believe all of its ID & E rhetoric?
After sitting through one of the strangest and lost racist sessions at Amazon (of my career), it made me wonder if they are just checking the box or they actually believe their BS. If they cared, they’d talk about all injustice, not just hot topics.
Of course they don’t care. They moved into East Palo Alto with a new office directly in front an extremely congested freeway, with the promise to the community that they’d hire from local talent. Then they changed their minds and said they’d build a community office to help locals refresh their resume and find work. When I saw the sign for this community office, I realized it was all a joke. The sign was legitimately a piece of office paper with sharpie on it pasted on the window of the highest floor of the building. Visible to no one. But are we surprised? Amazon treats their engineers like shit, and is running active campaigns on social media sites to brainwash people in believing they give a fuck.
