Hi - I don't live in Northern California (Southern California actually) and was curious if Apple hires remote workers and doesn't require relocation? I'm assuming yes based on the role, any insight would be appreciated
A few years back I had interviewed with iTunes team, almost half of the panel were remote from the east coast.
Wow thank you for the comments. Microsoft very much supports remote workers (I'm one myself) but looking at opportunities at Apple several look interesting.
Microsoft very much does NOT support remote workers. They are exceptions, and uncommon.
Not true at all. In field roles (and we have 20,000) everyone is remote.
Its a very tough sell. Bay area is full if tech people so u have to pull some strings to pull this off
Yeah, in my group it's basically forbidden except in rare cases. So much more productive to have people onsite.
Thanks guys for the honest feedback
It's rare, I think you have to be really good so they really want you. I was told that it was more accepted 10y ago but at some point they put a policy that it is not OK in general

Yes, I have two people in my team (HW Chip Design) who work remotely. One from Denver and the other from Seattle. They however make a trip every month or every two weeks to sync up with their manager and team.
Is this common at Apple or are they a few exceptions?
In any big company such cases would always be exceptions. What matters is are any exceptions allowed.
