My org has Day 1 GC policy, but I’m not sure if it applies to people who have not yet got the H1B. I still have my full 3 attempts left for OPT + STEM extension. Level is ICT2. Also I’m ROW. TC first year: 162k YOE: 0 #apple #greencard #workvisa #tech
No also it depends team by team basis
Nope, I’d tried doing that. They need you to have an H1b first and then they’ll start the process right away
Is it nonnegotiable? Or you can push for it somehow with manager/skip approval?
Seemed non negotiable. It’s not because Apple doesn’t want to but because there’s some really grey area here with F1 supposedly being a non immigrant intent visa or something. Apple would never do something that’s not 100% supported from a legal pov. Why the rush though? Don’t you have a couple years OPT then 6 year H1b?

No apple doesn’t do it Although with director approval and explaining your circumstances you can pursue it and give it a try There is no uscis rule which says you can’t file gc on opt but as others have said it’s risky and lawyers too will say the same I wish I would have pushed it during my opt days..I would have green card by now
Thank you. I do want it earlier because I’d rather not being able to travel earlier than later when I have some seniority and actually need to travel internationally for work (I would imagine it works in favor of the company as well). I hope they at least are open to having that conversation.
